Adware?
Adware, like Malware and Spyware, is a very general term that can refer to a range of programs. The common feature in all of them is that they expose you to advertising. What's more, since this type of Adware is downloaded secretly, it's often being carried in the payload of a Trojan, and while the Adware itself is more annoying than harmful, it probably did not come alone.
